There are a few obvious reasons why you may not be seeing the results you are working towards when it comes to your eating habits and burning unwanted body fat!
Are you eating too much?
When we get started on an exercise plan, especially if you are not normally so active, your body will want to replace the extra calories you are losing, with the extra activity. When you feel more hungry, you may actually be eating more calories. You need to watch the energy you consume and the energy you burn are not equal.
Are you not eating enough?
When trying to burn extra fat, you need to follow a calorie deficient plan. When we eat too little, we can then have a natural reaction where our bodies send signals to conserve calories, which slows down our metabolism.
You may be asking...
So, what is the difference between a calorie deficient and calorie surplus (losing vs gaining weight) can be the difference of a few hundred calories, therefore I am a big fan of journaling what you are eating for that very reason in the early days.
How are you working out? Are you doing Cardio, Weight Training or both?
The more muscle mass we have, the more calories we burn. We also need to create muscle mass for numerous other reasons also. Therefore it is very important to do weight or resistance training.
Are you feeling overwhelmed or stressed?
If we do not track our stress levels, we can be fighting a losing battle! When we are stressed, our bodies produce high levels of cortisol. The knock-on effect of having high levels of cortisol promotes the storage of excess glucose as fat in the abdomen, which causes belly fat.
You need to find a way to lower your stress levels and time for personal care. Start to read, have a bubble bath, go for a walk in nature, meditate, yoga... the list goes on.
Maybe what you are doing is not what you naturally feel up should.
Not one shoe fits us all! That goes with your eating plan and your exercise plan. So try to find something that suits you best! If you do not think about your fitness and eating plan as enjoyable as possible, it will be easy for you to throw the towel in and give up before you are able to witness results yourself.
Learn about the Marcos you are eating and this will help you get started to understand the consistency of each food or beverage source you decide to consume.
